Dear District 3 Resident,

 

I will be hosting a Fireside Chat on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 7pm at The Oaks Course. Please help me spread the word. The topic is "Budget Priorities for FY2011".

 

 

I hope you will be able to attend and bring your neighbors with you. On March 29, the Board of Commissioners began hearing presentations from department heads and appropriations regarding the FY2011. According to projections, the BOC is facing approximately a 10% reduction in revenues from FY2010. As you may recall, we were forced to cut approximately 20% from the FY2009 budget. Therefore, cutting another 10% will affect county services. It is important to me that I clearly understand the priorities of the residents of District 3 as well as those of all the citizens of Newton County. Please help me spread the word. This is an opportunity to have input into the budget process--I value thoughtful input. There is a considerable amount of voter distrust of government as well as anger. The purpose of this meeting is to problem solve. We must, by law, balance the budget. There will be tough choices to make and I need you involved in helping me make those choices.
